“The masterplan of the campus takes full advantage of the rolling terrain to provide magnificent views and interesting spaces,” says Arch. Lichauco. MC Nuvali sits on a 15-hectare lot with a view of the Laguna de Bay. Every space communes with nature, effortlessly creating an environment conducive for learning.
The green design features forced ventilation to ensure cooler classrooms while a dry pond was constructed to help reduce flooding.
“The design incorporates the rich character and 87-year history of Miriam College, providing a positive prescence in the Nuvali community,” adds Arch. Lichauco. Like its Quezon City counterpart, MC NUVALI intends to develop “a school within a forest” with 60-40 ratio of open spaces to structures.
For its interiors, each floor is introduced with a new color complemented with natural light and windows that overlook the landscape outside. Spatial, psychological, physiological and behavioral needs of the students were considered. Classrooms are generously-spaced, bright and airy with high ceilings to give an ambience that is warm and connected to nature. Chair and table arrangements are non-traditional, with students facing each other, encouraging collaboration and teamwork while at the same time allowing engagement with the teachers.
Each floor in the pre-school classroom, a viewing room with a one-way mirror is provided for parents to observe their first-time students.
On top of the supporting facilities such as the canteen, library and multi-purpose hall, in the works is a modern Chapel with wood-glass-stone details also designed by Archion Architects.
For this year, MC NUVALI is offering pre-school and Grades 1- 7 levels. It will emphasize on a holistic education with focus on communication, foreign languages and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics or STEM. It will integrate as well the school’s core values of truth, peace, justice, and integrity of creation.
Like the main Quezon City branch, MC NUVALI will champion the same academic excellence and values as it “nurtures the leader in every child.”
