"For a young couple like August and Eira Alagan (both are 26 years old), their home is like a platform for growth. It's also an opportunity for the two to let their personalities shine. August works as an I.T. specialist for a company in Alabang while Eira, a former preschool teacher, does freelance graphic design and substitute teaching on the side. "On weekdays, we're up by 5 AM. I prepare breakfast and his baon while he gets ready for work. There's not much to do yet since it;s just the two of us, for now," says Eira. "If I get home early enough, we go out to eat in one of the restaurants in Solenad," adds August. While their works take up much of their time., the Alagan home is a bit more comfortable than their day jobs. The space is balanced with clean lines and pops of color. One of the walls is brushed in deep navy that serves as the backdrop for their clipboards pinned with interesting details like travel mementos, illustritations, and photos from memorable trips. Together, August and Eira have transformed (and are still in the process of!) their first home into an insipiring home. The cute couple is proof that a dream and good design don't have to cost an arm and leg."

THE STYLE Cozy and and travel-inspired. Since this is our first home together, we didn't want to overwhelm ourselves with the job of decorating a house. We just made sure that we'll always feel relaxed when we're at home.
DESIGN INSPIRATION Definitely traveling. We tried to incorporate ideas we got from the different places we've stayed in abroad. We set up our accent wall so we can display the photos and tokens we've aquired from our travels, and placed a few trinkets around for more character.
FAVORITE PIECES We love the clipboards on our accent wall. It's easy to switch up and add onto the displays. We can even clip on our bills there, so we don't forget them. FAVORITE SPOT In the living room. I like to watch movies and TV or just listen to some music while reading a book. - August
I spend most of my time in the kitchen. I like to try out recipes I saw online or on Food Network. - Eira
HOME CHALLENGES While the house was being built, we made sure that we would have more than enough storage space. We were hands-on with the layout of the built-in cabinets and the division of space. We also did our own research online and through interior design books to get more ideas on how to decorate our home.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS' THOUGHTS They seem to like it! Especially the kitchen and the travel-themed accent wall.
NEXT HOME PROJECT Our extra room is in need of an overhaul. Right now, it's just a space to keep office supplies. We already have a plan. We just need to free up a weekend to work on it.
ADVICE TO NEWBIES Investing in a home gives you more freedom to customize your space according to your needs. If you can, have a place for everything. While making the layout of our kitchen, we made sure our small appliances would have their own space inside the cabinets to keep them off the counter top. When moving in, or designing, focus on one space/room at a time.
HOME SOURCING The bigger pieces come from stores like Our Home and Dimensione. Several items are from SM Department Store. We go to Ikea when we're abroad.
WHY AVIDA Aside from it being built by Ayala Land, we chose an Avida home because the house layout and design let us maximize the spaces without compromising the overall look.
BEST THING ABOUT THE COMMUNITY We love the community and the amenities it offers. Here in our village, they promote having a healthy lifestyle and being closer to nature. We have a jogging path along the greenway that runs across the whole village. There are also pocket parks and open spaces.
